And that's not my point anyway. You cannot continue to give QB's more of a percentage of the salary cap and not in turn, start to severely impact your overall team. That's the point. No one is here to diss Goff which is probably part of your reaction. But, if Goff were to get hurt and Bortles played well...I guess we will see if McVay is the QB whisperer.
Let's take it to the absurd...what happens if QBs become 50% of the salary cap? Other positions will have to take a severe pay cut. Or, the make up of the roster would change to having lots and lots of young guys. The point is that continuing QBs to eat up a larger portion of the total cap is not sustainable.
This places an even greater focus on drafting well...or using draft picks to get younger proven talent...like a Cooks or Peters.
The more QBs eat up cap space at a greater rate than the increase in the cap, that more the whole philosophy of building a team will change. There has to be some limit...at some point with the escalations in QB salaries.
