I don't have all the math so there is a bit of "feel" to my comment.

The top QBs are taking up 16% plus of the total cap space for a team. I'm using $30 million / $190 million.

It seems the rate of growth in QB salaries is outpacing the rate of growth of the salary cap.

IMO, this cannot continue without serious ramifications to maintaining talent on a team and of course, salaries allotted to other players. As we know, it already has shown to be a problem...one that is getting worse.

If Wilson commands $35 million of say a $200 million cap, that is now 17.5% of the total cap. So who gets squeezed or what positions get an increase less than the rate of the salary cap increase?

Somebody is going to start drawing the line. While I don't like it, it may get to the point where the CBA has to consider a max contract. Frankly, if I'm a non QB, I'm likely to be for it.

If Wilson gets $35 million per, what's the next contract? I'm not saying Wilson shouldn't get his. He's a great player. But, at some point you need to get some sanity in the increases being paid to QBs.

The Union is likely to try and eliminate the 5th year option...and the franchise tag.

With that in mind, maybe it's not so dumb to draft a QB high when you have a good QB. This makes the Bortles signing a little more interesting. And IMO, it's not as hard to find a good QB in the draft as it used to be. There seems to be a larger pool of Pro worthy QBs coming out of college.
