My point is that we don't have it to go on....because it wasn't a valid test. It was the worst possible conditions a rookie QB could ever face....it tells us nothing about how he might do now in another system.
Old friend, I don't buy in on that particular hyperbole.
The Rams passing coordinator in 2016 is now the Eagles offensive coordinator.
A lot went wrong in 2016, including the fact that in the last 50 years only one team has ever had a winning year after a move, including the fact that Goff came out of Cal especially green, and including the fact that there was something wrong with Gurley in 2016 (McGinnis says he was playing hurt). You can add coaching to that if you want but it's a long list.
Given all that, no I do not hold 2016 against Goff. I don't put it on him. It was a rough situation---for a lot of reasons.
Anyone who has watched a qb knows that Goff has done things no coach could put in him---you either have those things or you don't and Goff has them. I was saying that after 2016 in fact and before the 2017 season.
So I agree with your general point about Goff being the real thing and the "system qb" stuff being bogus.
