Personally, I never doubted him. The circumstances were not very good (if nothing else, no running game...and if memory serves, the 2017 Rams ran play action more than anyone, and of course you can't run play action without a running threat). On top of it Air Raid college offense qbs are notoriously underprepared for the pros. Only 3 have done anything so far across 2 decades (counting Goff after 2017 as the 3rd) and none of the 3 had a solid rookie year. But I think college also showed what he was and I think that's all translating over, and there were even hints of it in 2016, in spite of the situation.
