He is however the only one so far not to receive an extension.
At a certain point, there's a risk to the Rams looking bad. To their own players among others. It's bad business.
Mack!
He hasn't received an extension. He too is eligible for one and he's on record as saying he's patiently waiting for one.
That said, I agree. There is a risk to the Rams looking bad and I don't think they want that.
You can't quote things out of context like that. Here is what I said:

Donald is not the only player to enter into negotiationsfor an extension after year 3, which is a CBA guaranteed right for first rounders. He is however the only one so far not to receive an extension.
Mack and the Raiders
did not enter into negotiations after year 3, which would have been the same year as Donald did, in 2017.
In a separate discussion we already agreed that's true.
Not every 1st rounder under the new CBA even requests re-negotiation after year 3. In fact it's not many.
And the team and player have to actually enter negotiations for that to be real.
Just passing your third year doesn't count and I didn't count it.
Mack is up for an extension
after his FOURTH year and it remains to be seen how that goes.
Meanwhile yes there are teams that did enter into negotiations after year 3 and signed the players, no issues. So far it's only some Rams fans who view that as an opportunity to keep a generational player on the cheap via lowball tags.

Teams giving highly-accomplished first-round picks extremely early extensions haven't exploited their leverage. Cowboys center Travis Frederick, Panthers inside linebacker Luke Kuechly, Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson and Texans defensive end J.J. Watt became the highest-paid player (by average year salary) at their respective positions. Each player received All-Pro honors in two of their first three years, just like Donald.
