How about the Rand contact both Mack and AD's agents and they agree on contract extensions where they each are the highest paid D player? If both sides are waiting so they can negotiate for a dollar more for that claim of "highest paid" then they get the same contract. Neither would get more of less so it's a win-win-win-win. Another thought. After AD's domination after missing all camp last year why would we want him in camp where he could get hurt? He knows the system. He works out harder than the camp and he flourishes without the camp. I wouldn't even play him in the preseason. Just show up before game one and be yourself big guy.
If all this "he's waiting for Mack" stuff is true (and who knows) then I wouldn't be against the solution you discuss here.
