Me: And even last year Wade was describing McVay’s O as “very difficult to defend”.

There are a lot of words you can use to describe Sean McVay’s offense with the Los Angeles Rams: complex, unique, explosive, dominant. Aqib Talib and Marcus Peters have only been members of the Rams for a few months, but they’re already impressed with the way McVay’s offense operates.

In fact, they used the same word to describe the Rams offense: crazy.

“We got an introduction to that McVay offense. It’s crazy,” Talib said. “But it was a pretty solid day.”

Peters echoed that sentiment during his post-practice press conference.

“It’s crazy unique, though,” Peters said. “But it’s going to make us a whole lot better because the up-tempo and how his play-calling style is just crazy unique, so it’s going to cause us to be on our toes a lot.”

McVay is known for using a lot of motion in the backfield and across the formation in order to get players open. He did it frequently with Tavon Austin last season, either to get him the ball in space or to draw defenders out of the box to open things up for Todd Gurley.

He also motioned Robert Woods at times, such as on this touchdown against the Texans. It was a perfectly designed play to confuse the defense and create an opening on the outside.

The speed and movement are what caught Talib’s attention on Monday.

“There’s a bunch movement, bunch of speed on it. Just a bunch of movement, so you gotta have your eyes in the right place,” he said.

Talib and Peters are bound to improve against the Rams’ offense, just as guys like Brandin Cooks and Jared Goff will get better after facing a revamped secondary every day in practice.
