Yeah I just mean I think they wanted to do a "veteran signs contract extension" thing for the cameras and he was the one they were closest to signing so they did it. Not that they did it purely for show.
I don't think McVay just decided not to use him. It seems to me just square peg/round hole. Other than jet sweeps and playing backup RB his skill set didn't fit. And I hate to say it but I doubt he had the mental acumen for that offense. And once he crapped the bed as a punt returner his fate was sealed. It seemed to me they gave him one final chance in the week 17 game vs. SF, as sort of a preseason type situation, and unfortunately he fell short there again.
Someone will use him. But LA is not the place for him.
