At 4-3, the Rams would be only one game over .500 just before the midpoint of the season. At 5-2, they would be three games over .500 and would have the best record in the NFC. The Rams are at a stage at which win vs loss can make a huge difference. Later in the year, this might not be the case. For example, if they go on a winning streak and get to 7-2, they would still have a good chance of making the playoffs no matter the outcome of the next game (8-2 vs 7-3).
