He is so good at so many things.
1) Offense is motivated
2) He has developed their skill sets / fundamentals
3) He has developed a scheme
4) He is excellent at realizing the strengths of players and putting them in positions to use their ability
5) He does a great job of space management and creating space for players
6) He evolves each week and builds on a theme from the previous week
7) He is unpredictable. The defense is always on their heels.
8) He uses plays to set up other plays. Actually, this has been so key as he shows something early and comes back with the same look later, but with a slightly different twist.
He reminds me of the "The Great One" Mike Martz.
I never thought I see it again, but I think he may be heading in that category.
Simply put, players play much better for McVay than they would with a different coach coaching them. He gets the very best out of them and there is a ton of overachieving going on right now.
Imagine the Gurley and Goff from 2016 and did anybody ever think they could be doing this in 2017.
That is what great coaching does!
