I can respect somebody's right to free speech. It doesn't mean I'm ok with any vile and hatred they may then spew forth.
It's a false issue because only one poster construed that as me saying the Rams were "okay with it." I was very exact in what I said.
And of course your analogy is a tilted one. There is nothing in any of this whatsoever indicating that the Rams have any feelings about this the way you would toward vile speech. Plus of course when you say you respect the right to vile speech, that means you do not shut it down or restrain the speaker in any way and keep him from speaking. You are of course in that situation free to openly criticize that speech and precisely call it vile.
That's not what the Rams are doing.
They are not criticizing Donald, they are not condemning the hold out, they are not making this a public issue (which they DID do with Faulk, or for that matter with Warner when it looked like Warner could hold out in 2000). They are not halting negotiations, they are not putting up deadlines, they are not talking about retaliations or "holding him to his contract."
So it looks like what they meant when they said they would "respect" any decision to not report, is that they are quite simply not going to make an issue of it.
That's me putting their words together with their actions.
YOU may be of the belief that Donald's contract obligates him, but the Rams themselves are not only not saying that, they're not acting that way either.
