It doesn't appear that he is a "Ram for life" kind of player like Jack Youngblood or Merlin Olsen.
I still come back to the Beckham comparison. And I ain't buying the position difference. WRs get hurt too. We just got one with an injury history. And all Beckham has to do is look at his own team, the Giants had a guy who looked great and then got hurt and was never the same, Hakeem Nicks.
I know the Rams lowballed Jenkins, bigly, but he had only one year left when they did it. He only had to play one more year to get paid somewhere else or get big bucks in a tag. Donald has two years to go. If the Rams don't meet his demands he's stuck with making things ugly for them and hoping to force a trade or or sitting out.
When was the last time a player with 2 years left on their contract held out and didn't play? Anyone know?
Sorry Max, but you're kidding yourself if you think OBJ isn't sitting out becuse the Giants might make a wild card.... That's just silly.
He has a different agent and unlike Donald isn't considered the "best" at his position.
Although he clearly has outplayed his rookie deal, he is living up to his contract and being a good teammate.... I'm sure he has an insurance policy just in case.
As far as the last rookie to pull this move? I can't remember ???
My guess is that AD will be back shortly after camp is over and will agree to the deal that was on the table from the beginning.
