BTW, this poster is very open to bringing Manning onboard.
Here's jrry32...
'Elway came into Denver and worked with their previous GM (Brian Xanders) before taking the mantle. There's no indication that they're just going to hand Manning the GM job. Rather, my expectation is that he'd be given a title like Elway's (Executive Vice President or something like that) and given significant input on the Rams' direction. Les Snead would continue to do his job".
Me, again:
Where is the sense of bringing Manning in and starting him at the very top? Whether as President, GM, or some other made up title?
Great QB, but as an NFL top exec, a complete unknown. We are talking about our Rams here, fellas. One of only 32 NFL franchises in the world. Peyton, or anyone else, needs to have earned such a position by succeeding in the executive environment first.
That tried and true principal applies from a candy store to General Motors.
Just Management 101, really.
I'd take Peyton over Lynch any day and twice on Sunday....
I see nothing wrong with bringing in Peyton in some sort of Vice President of "name your job"
The dude has earned it... let him learn for a few years in some sort of made up position and then settle in as President of Football Operations
This is a no brainer imo. One of the greatest QB's of all time leading your front office team??? How could that be a bad thing?!!
People have complained for years that the Rams don't have a "football guy" in the front office...that would at least quiet those tears....lol
