Engram is a negative tweener for me. I had similar concerns with Devin Funchess coming out. I hear they are matchup nightmares, but I don't see one area in the NFL for them to dominate.
Where is Engram special? Long speed from the slot. Ok, that's great vs the occasional coverage and matchup but how will he win consistently? Middle of an NFL field is way more congested and I don't see Reed like toughness or body control from Engram. He's not a basketball player rebounding in contested ball situations like Gates or Graham. On the outside, I don't think he's crafty enough to win vs CBs that see his level of quickness and burst all day everyday.
Now I am TRYING to be aware of what happens at this time of year....people start SELLING their opinions on prospects. They like a guy and become blind to his negatives, don't like a guy and you become blind to his positives. I hope I'm not going overboard because I didn't initially love Engram. I FEEL I'm not, I believe I'm just becoming more clear on my evaluation as I have looked closer at him recently....but who knows
