a team would want to take on TruJo's contract at the expense of a premium pick (i.e. 2nd or early 3rd rounder).

Though a good CB, I don't see him as pushing a contending team "over the top" and thus justifying the cap hit.

And because he's playing on a one-year deal, I don't see an emerging team taking on his contract and potentially being unable to sign him long-term.

At worst, we need to be prepared to hold onto him at his tag # (again, a good CB ) and use the draft to secure depth at that position. Although not preferable to me, it's not the end of the world either.

Might be overlooking the obvious, BRO.

A trade partner team wouldn't be giving us a 2nd (or a 3rd) for the right to have TruJo for just one year at $16.7.

It would be for a proven top 10 CB in today's pass happy NFL for 4-5 years at approx $12 million per (after a prearranged sign and trade package).

A young, healthy, experienced, proven, good teammate, good citizen CB, mind you. A bargain in that context, actually. As opposed to a 50% historically successful 1st rounder, or a 35% 2nd rounder, btw.
