Great inquiry for curiosity sake but let's be real. This team like several others who missed play-offs have managed to do so by making mistakes and being under coached or prepared and unseasonably un-lucky.
McVay is a newbie and could be a genious like many of us on this board and still we will find fault if we fail but clearly no one has that answer and no one can know what will help change our culture. Sometimes it is talent. Sometimes it is scheme and approach. But time and chance also play a part and so we should not think because they keep or let go of the player we want that our fortunes will automatically change. On the converse if they do just the opposite is not a precursor to doom.
Chemistry of staff and team and balance of talent and scheme and training and conditioning preparation and of course luck will actually be what will tilt our fortunes in a possitive direction and unfortunately after making the one great and necessary change of leadership we still can only settle for hope and opportunity that all those factors will enhance our chances in 2017 and beyond.
Quite frankly this early in the process that is about all I can hope for and why I have excitement and enthusiasm. At least I am not looking at a predictable future based on a well known trend which was my biggest concern with Jeff Fisher before we even hired him. BTW, I still had hope then he would break that trend.
Well here we are and the future is unforseen and I can live with what I know for now.
