That wasn't the case of course, things got worse.
IMO the perfect example of Boras not getting it, and not having a feel for the game was the 3rd and 1 call where he had the ball pitched deep in the backfield to Gurley going to the left. Gurley got the ball like NINE yards from where he needed to go. Stupid play call at that point.
No motion inthis O. Austin wasn't used much in the running game which was a dumb move. Overall he was just out of his depth.
I believe Fisher couldn't hire from outside. He was in his last contract year
He didnt sign his extension until the start of preseason.
He was lame duck while looking for an OC. No OC worth his salt would sign for less
than 3 years and I would bet your left nut Demoff and Richie Rich wouldn't
let him hire outside and give an OC a 3 year deal.
Also think Demoff is the reason JJ walked and Fisher didnt want to trade up.

He had the extension though.
