Couple of years ago I ordered a $125 guitar part.. USPS tracking showed it as "delivered", but it wasn't anywhere on my property.. Called USPS.. they had my carrier come visit me.. He claimed he couldn't remember if he delivered anything to me.. USPS turned it over to their package finder girl, who had a high rate of success finding lost packages.. She gave up after a few days..
Never got my package.. USPS's position was that since the item was declared "delivered" they weren't responsible for it.. I asked them point blank if they carrier delivered it to the wrong address, then updated tracking it as "delivered", why was I in the hole for $125.. They replied that ALL that mattered was that the package had a "delivered" status - didn't matter if it was delivered to the wrong address or not, and that I was at the mercy of the home owners who mistakenly got my package.. My only recourse was to sue or file charges against the homeowners who got my package and didn't bring it to me or return it to USPS.. Well, considering I don't have a clue who they are, there was no way to pursue that..
So, bottom line was I was out $125.. Same exact scenario happened about 3 weeks after that with these little scent tracers (scent stickers you place on furniture to "mark" the area for a blind dog) I ordered for our blind Beagle.. Once again, out $30.. They freakin' stole from a blind Beagle..
