Nice Jersey!
Mail handlers are stealing parcels. I have a similar story about USPS, but mine did not have the happy ending that yours did. I tried returning an expensive shirt at a post office branch only to have it not arrive at it's destination several days later. After I went back into the branch (with the tracking number) they discovered that, even though I had immediately placed the parcel directly into a bin after leaving the service counter, it never made it onto the truck.
The bin that I placed it into fed directly to the loading dock, so there was no way that the package could have been lost. The mistake I made was shipping the shirt back in it's original box which had the designer's name on it. The shirt was never found, so I was out of several hundred dollars.
The post office actually told me that, when you think about it, they handle several million parcels daily, and if you compare the amount of lost packages against the amount that arrive over many years of service, their performance is excellent.
WTH?
