Every opening and closing ceremony has celebrity performers, usually they are performers who have some connection to the host country so I have no problem with that. I completely understand why Celine Dion was chosen to perform in the opening ceremonies. She's French-Canadian. However, I didn;t get the connection with Lady Gaga to understand why SHE performed. She did that can-can/speakeasy nby MamaRAMa - Bucky's Pub
On a POSITIVE note... Celione Dion sang the closing number in the ceremony and it was the first time she's performed in public since March 2020. She sounded fantastic and it was nice to see her on stage sounding like herself once more. If you're a fan and you missed it... see if you can find a clip on Youtube or something. I saw an interview a few weeks ago from her special "I Am Celine Dby MamaRAMa - Bucky's Pub
What was up with the dude in the mask that ran all through the city with the torch? Thought they were going to reveal who it was when they lit the cauldron. What was the point of hiding his face and having a no-name acrobat/gymnast running through the city with the Olympic torch? Hate the flame... looks like a hot air balloon on fire. Frank and I just overall didn't like it.by MamaRAMa - Bucky's Pub
QuoteJamesJM but it's not a 'major' criticism. I think the athletes coming in on boats is cool.... very nice views of Paris in the background. I just don't like it as much as the athletes marching in to the stadium. Actually, I like it a LOT less than the athletes marching in. But that's just me. :laughing I am HOPING, and it could happen, the boats are transporting the athletes to the stby MamaRAMa - Bucky's Pub

We'll be glued to the Olympics as well. However, when the StL Cardinals are playing, we'll still have the Olympics on the big tv but we'll have the baseball game on at the same time on a different device (desktop, laptop, fire tablet, or iphone). I know that was a tough conversation, but it sounds like you handled it better than you're giving yourself credit for. You gave her the answers she desperately needed and she gave YOU some as well That had to be of some comfort to you both. When it rains... sometimes there are rainbows. QuoteJamesJM You're 14, about to be a Freshman in HS, and your new Riddel Speed Flex helmet is delivered by UPS. Nope, you can't overstate the excitement. :laughing Which leads to.... This one hurt.... I mean it was actually painful for me. This was said in all seriousness.... it was NOT meant as a diss. With the helmet coming in we were discussing helmets and logo's.. Surreal is right, Steve. This could be a script right out of Chicago Med. Saying goodbye and knowing it's final on this earth IS hard. It doesn't matter how much time has passed since you last saw them. It's just as hard knowing you saw them 10 minutes ago as 10 years ago. That's really great news, Gator. I know it's been worrisome... not knowing.... but now you at least know it's not "the worst" thing. I know you're relieved. I sure am!by MamaRAMa - Bucky's Pub
I saw him perform this song live when CBS broadcast the Willie Nelson 90th Birthday Celebration this past April. I was surprised how much he sounds like his dad only better, in my opinion. He did a beautiful job on this song.by MamaRAMa - Bucky's Pub

I was watching a British show and noticed they don't pronounce the word "schedule" as "SKED-yule", which is the way I've pronounced it and heard it pronounced my whole life. QuoteJamesJM We want to paint our church. I didn't know any painters so my daughter suggested I try "Yelp". Ever use "Yelp"? I had not. So last night I asked on Yelp.... and this morning every person with an email address in the Northern Hemisphere of planet earth has emailed me. They are coming in every few minutes. Pretty sure I won't be using Yelp in the future.by MamaRAMa - Bucky's Pub

QuoteSeattleRam I would for sure recommend Nate Bargatze "Hello World" special on Prime. I had never heard of this guy until your post but since we have Amazon Prime, I went out and watched his "Hello World" video. Very funny guy... and clean material! Now I'll have to look for more of his stuff.by MamaRAMa - Bucky's Pub
QuoteSeattleRam I really like Nate Bergatze, don't think I've heard the other. There are so many great comedians out there now, I've seen so many on youtube I can't even remember most of their names. I'd never heard of either one. I listened today to Anjelah Johnson's "Nail Salon" and it was hilarious. Listened to a little of some of her other stuff and it didn't slay me, but thby MamaRAMa - Bucky's Pub

QuoteJamesJM :laughing I LOVE when they show the athlete's families gathered around their TV's watching their daughters, granddaughters, cousins, nieces and nephews, friends, competing in the trials and then on to the big show. Watching Gabby's family was as good as the event itself. :laughing I'm sorry to bring this next up again.... but I REALLY don't like the current trend in Olympic cby MamaRAMa - Bucky's Pub
QuoteJamesJM Has it been two weeks? I don't know... I lose track of time I get so caught up in it. :laughing Spoiler coming... .just in case you didn't watch the trials and plan too: First - So happy for Gabby! The headline from the article below in Variety just came across my iPhone screen. It's pretty damning. I was making a smooth jazz cd for my grandson (yes, I know it's old technology. He's only 7 and his mom bought him a CD/Bluetooth player because he's become obsessed with female singers lately). Anyhow, I have a CD that I made for myself several years ago and when Everett spends the night, I put that CD on and he's usually asleep in about 5-10 minutes. He finds it very relaxing. QuoteRamgator My second MLB game ever. The first was one month before at Busch (Cards / Phillies) This game was July 1988. IT WAS HOT!!!! LOL Nope, I don't remember that because it was "before my time". I moved to St Louis from Wichita in 1993 but didn't really become a Cardinals fan until the year the Cards got Mark McGwire.
