Although the writing was on the wall for some time now it still hits hard when it finally happens. Felt sad when I heard of the Dickerson trade back then and now feel even worse with the Kupp release. In the ED case we at least got a bountiyful of high draft picks (which we happened to blow almost entirely) to pin our hopes on. Good post! Very much agree with your argument about HOF player more often than not making the difference in winning a title. The more you have , the better your chances to win it all. I could live with this idea of trading Stafford for a 2026 first rounder (plus maybe a 3rd rounder this year) and going with a bridge QB like Garroppolo or Rodgers in 2025 (plus a backup like Fields ). Do you think the Rams can win a SB with JG at QB if Stafford goes down ? I do not. Fields has not proven him yet, true. But he has shown glimpses of what he can do . There are no QBs in this years draft that have the talent of Fields nor his experience in the NFL. He could be a diamond in the rough. Excellent post , 43. Only thing I disagree; I want Fields to back up Stafford. Fields has the arm ,the mobility and the experience to take over eventually after Stafford leaves the Rams. Fields has all the talent, arm,mobility, still very young, already some experience as a starter. Has not had a lot to work at CHI which is a very tough place to play too. Tough decision. Being a lawyer I say it depends.:lol1 Depends on the player you need and want to bring in. Depends on where your team is at the moment. Depends on how high the picks are you are about to trade away. Depends on if your goal is to win NOW or to be good for the longer term. Depends on your cap situation. Nobody knows how a potential game vs the Commanders or the Chiefs would have turned out for our Rams but it certainly makes you play the What-If game.
