What is a fair number.by max - RamsFootballFans.com
You’re not amazed. You’re too smart for that. And as much as I think $21M is reasonable, I also think Demoff is incompetent in managing this thing. He’s playing a stupid game that jeopardizes the Rams SB hopes this year. He may win the PR game for a while, but if the Rams get off to a losing start without Donald, he will be a big loser. So Demoff is gambling here that McVay can win without Doby max - RamsFootballFans.com
@ericsgeller: No need to vilify @AaronDonald97 or the @RamsNFL on the contract stalemate. It’s part of the Pro Sports Culture. Not agreeing to approx $21M bcuz you want approx $25M is par for the course. It’ll get done. It’s just something most of us can’t fathom. #PayAD99 #NFLTrainingCamp Me: Here’s the dilemma for Donald. I predicted Donald would get $22M plus or minus $1M a couple of weeks ago. You said that’s probably right. Now you’re changing your tune. Nothing’s changed except people caving to Donald’s demands. Right now it’s a negotiation with Donald and Mack watching each other. Here's a fact. These guys are playing this year. Here’s an opinion. It won’t be for $25M. It will be for whby max - RamsFootballFans.com
It’s called what the market will bear, and no one knows if the market will bear $25M at this time. Not even you, no matter how much you push your position. If Donald signs for less than $25M, as I expect he will. That’s what the market will bear, not $25M.by max - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotejemach Why? People keep talking about the accrued season. Well, if you're Aaron Donald, who cares when he knows they have the franchise tag available another two seasons. The Rams can underpay him, including this season, for three more years. So...he comes in by 8/8...he still is underpaid...he still has the possibility of the tag on him for two more years. AND, without a new deby max - RamsFootballFans.com
@RapSheet: On #Rams DT Aaron Donald: If he doesn’t report by Aug 7, he doesn’t get an accrued season for free agency and he’d be restricted in 2019. I’m told that date is not considered relevant by those involved — in part because they may just franchise him, anyway. This should be lengthy.by max - RamsFootballFans.com
@AdamSchefter: There is a belief from some around the league that, no matter the fines or the effect on his free agency, Aaron Donald will not play another down on his existing contract. In other words, his holdout is likely to last until a new deal comes along. Me: Watt got $16.6M in 2014. Von Miller got $19M in 2016. Donald wants over $25M in 2018. Donald is just as big a disgrace as his agent, IMO. And I’m not saying his agent is a disgrace, just that Donald knows the numbers and he can tell his agent get me in, I’m good with them. My view at this point is to wait and see if Donald signs or not this year. If he holds out for 25M, then he’s on his own.by max - RamsFootballFans.com
They may be tired of this agent and believe their offer will stand up well in the court of public opinion. I think they’re right. Most people will view 21M as being a fair offer for a non QB who is not a FA.. And view 25M as over the top.by max - RamsFootballFans.com
Mack is #21 Miller is #17 Donald is nowhere to be found. That’s my point.by max - RamsFootballFans.com
He will have the lowest jersey sales per dollar salary in the history of the NFL by a wide margin. Usually when you get a guy making record breaking salary numbers he’s also a marketing draw as well. Not Donald.by max - RamsFootballFans.com
Where do you think Geller got the numbers from? The Rams could have leaked them, and then he went to Donald’s agent for comment. It’s out in the public now. They’re negotiating. Obviously Donald’s agent is pushing for more.by max - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteSpeed_Kills AD is a knuckle head. 21M highest paid player in NFL history... shatters the salary for his position and is playing with a great coach, great young team and a SB contender if this is a true the guy is a bonehead He could take $21M now or hold out, risk injury and hope he gets $25M next year or longer? Sounds like a dumb business decision. I don’t think $21M is lowball. Iby max - RamsFootballFans.com
TST misread Gellers tweet, and he corrected them. And they then changed their report. @ericsgeller: @TurfShowTimes Not what I said or was told. Aaron Donald isn’t the insulted one. His agent is. Big difference.by max - RamsFootballFans.com
@ericsgeller: Just got confirmation. SOURCES: L.A. @RamsNFL offering @AaronDonald97 4 yr. $21M per making AD highest paid D player in NFL history. AD’s agent “insulted” by offer. He’s looking for north of $25M per for AD which is QB $$. Not going to happen, nor should it. #MobSquad #SignAD99by max - RamsFootballFans.com
We just don’t know much about how he ticks. He’s been more private than any other big name player in LA. Never hear him say much of anything in support of any team mate. He’s a Pittsburgh guy. His ultimate goal may be to get back there. Donald will never be the face of the Rams. He’s just not that kind of guy. And it’s not just the position. JJ Watt has done just fine in Houston.by max - RamsFootballFans.com
Yeah, I saw that. Just another media source starting to paint The situation in the Rams favor. I’m not expecting a deal to be done in the next few weeks.by max - RamsFootballFans.com
If they don’t sign him this year, it may get ugly next year. Numbers will probably “leak” out. It would then be interesting to see the reaction to the numbers.by max - RamsFootballFans.com
Gurley just got $15M/yr. Giving Donald $23M/yr is more than 150% of what Gurley just got. Is doubtful Donald is worth that much more in terms of winning a SB. And certainly not in terms of entertainment value. I think that’s a big consideration for the Rams.by max - RamsFootballFans.com
I do think if the Rams don’t extend him soon (this year), then they’re prepared to move on from him.by max - RamsFootballFans.com
I’m not saying the Rams won’t extend him, I’m saying if they don’t extend him this year, then he’s gone. You can forget that franchise tag stuff. That ain’t working with AD.by max - RamsFootballFans.com
I told you they weren’t letting Gurley go. I gave the reasons, and I assessed how the Rams would see him. The biggest issue remains how the Rams view Donald. I’m not sure they see him as a must have at his price.by max - RamsFootballFans.com
So not sure why he would care that much about reporting by aug 8. If the Rams don’t extend Donald this year, he’s gone in 2019.by max - RamsFootballFans.com
Joyner is a goner. Talib too. And I doubt they’ll be able to keep Peters either. This, of course, assumes they resign Donald. I strongly believe they keep Gurley over Peters. And Goff is as close to a sure thing as you can get. If they get cute with Donald, and lose him, then they can keep Peters and maybe Suh. Maybe that’s what they’re considering. QuoteRams43 Quotemax I’ll be shocked if the Rams don’t extend Gurley, provided he stays healthy. I wouldn’t be shocked, max. So many other mouths to feed, man. I love Gurley in this O, but we can’t keep everybody. AD, Peters, and Goff are higher priorities. And Saffold, Hav, and JB are due just next year. Ain’t gonna be easy to keep this band together, huh?
