English Springer Spaniel.... as you may recall. He's a year old now. English Springer's are known as one of the more intelligent dog breeds.... but, I dunno.
He's potty trained now BUT... it took a lot longer than it should have, or what I read is 'normal'. Dumb.
He knows exactly how to work us to sneak things off the table he's not supposed to have.... like 'genius level' deceivous. Oh he's well aware he's not allowed on the table, counter, various places.... but he also knows he can get away with it if we aren't around to catch him. He plays us.
BUT... he's bad about covering his tracks. He hasn't figured out that 15,000 chewed up little pieces of napkins/paper towels, is an indicator that he's been up to no good.
He will proudly bring you one of his toys to play fetch or tug-of-war but if it's a paper towel or a shoe then he gets very very quiet and sticks to the shadows. When you catch him with a shoe he denies it. "Wasn't me"... even if it's in his mouth.
Even though it wasn't a big consideration when I got him I did think "good guard dog, some extra protection". Well that's not going to happen. Guido loves everyone - he doesn't need to know you. If you come in my home you're his best friend. - JamesJM
