Blinkscout Shrine Game Report

February 03, 2024 07:28AM
Every player is listed, not every one will have notes associated. Also, some of these player listings are wrong ... I can't help quality control, man.

I watched the game and listened to the commentary ...

QUARTERBACK

(Taulia Tagovailoa) 5-10 200 So, I've liked him more and more each year and he outplayed everyone in this game by a fair margin. I'm now open to considering him in the mid rounds. He's mature, a leader, and can play off platform and after things break down with poise and accuracy.
Devin Leary, Kentucky Has a cannon arm, think very poor man's Jay Cutler. Does not succeed if the play breaks down ...
John Rhys Plumlee, UCF Not a QB for me.
Jack Plummer, Louisville Aiden O Connell part 2.
Austin Reed, Western Kentucky I was a fan more at the beginning of the season. He had a decent game. Good arm, mobile, tough.
Kedon Slovis, BYU Has some nice moments but I have never been a fan.
Jordan Travis, Florida State Injured but also not a fan.

RUNNING BACK

Jonathon Brooks, Texas Injured.
Deshaun Fenwick, Oregon State I like this kid a lot and he'll be overollked because the guy in front of him was phenomenal and a likely top 50 pick next year. Didn;t play in the game .. 6-0 225.
Frank Gore Jr., Southern Miss He might be in play for us because he's like our RBs.
Isaac Guerendo, Louisville 5-11 220. Faster than you'd think ... late flier I like his tape well enough.
Jaden Shirden, Monmouth Only had one play ..
Carson Steele, UCLA Didn't play, but hard nosed kid that will blow up on special teams.
Tyrone Tracy Jr., Purdue Ex WR ... meh.
Blake Watson, Memphis I keep trying to not like him. I keep failing.

Oops, no one listed Kibodi from ULL ... older kid, but only 130 carries and a one year starter that has good speed and power and size ... might go unnoticed ... 6-1 225.

WIDE RECEIVER

Jalen Coker, Holy Cross
Ryan Flournoy, Southeast Missouri State Senior Bowl.
Anthony Gould, Oregon State
Lideatrick Griffin, Mississippi State
Jadon Janke, South Dakota State
Jaxon Janke, South Dakota State
Cornelius Johnson, Michigan
Bub Means, Pittsburgh
Tejhaun Palmer, UAB
Tayvion Robinson, Kentucky
Malik Washington, Virginia
Tahj Washington, USC
David White Jr., Western Carolina
Isaiah Williams, Illinois

Yeah not really into those guys. The Washington boys have the best shot at the next level and Gould could return punts.

TIGHT END

McCallan Castles, Tennessee
Zach Heins, South Dakota State Watch him ... great ball skills long arms and 6-6 264.
Dallin Holker, Colorado State Think he was 2nd team AA? Smooth hands, catchesa ton of passes. I don't think he's as fast as McBride but he caught only 15 less passes I think.
Mason Pline, Furman
Tip Reiman, Illinois This is a big boy. 6-4 273 with 33 inch arms. Blocking TE that can catch and is violent.
Isaac Rex, BYU Won best in practice ... I have really liked this kid for 2 years. 6-5 250.
Ja'Tavion Sanders, Texas Didn't platy, not a huge fan of his.

OFFENSIVE TACKLE

Gottlieb Ayedze, Maryland
Andrew Coker, TCU
Anim Dankwah, Howard
Josiah Ezirim, Eastern Kentucky
Tylan Grable, UCF
Garret Greenfield, South Dakota State
Julian Pearl, Illinois
Walter Rouse, Stanford
Nathan Thomas, Louisiana
Caedan Wallace, Penn State

Pearl and Rouse are long armed ... but the edge guys were good in this game and really just destroyed them.

INTERIOR OFFENSIVE LINE

Karsen Barnhart, Michigan
X'Zauvea Gadlin, Liberty
Matt Goncalves, Pittsburgh
C.J. Hanson, Holy Cross
Donovan Jennings, South Florida
Trente Jones, Michigan
Matt Lee, Miami (FL)
KT Leveston, Kansas State I like all K State linemen. Needs a year of body shaping I think.
Christian Mahogany, Boston College This is one of the best players in this game, surprised he chose here... had a down season coming off an ACL the previous year, but if he starts sliding I take him in the 5th.
Mason McCormick, South Dakota State Practice player of the week ... looked pretty solid, but the defense was more talented so he still go pushed around.
Dylan McMahon, N.C. State Like his tape, didn't see him in the game.
Hunter Nourzad, Penn State
Willis Patrick, TCU
Nick Samac, Michigan State
Jalen Sundell, North Dakota State

INTERIOR DEFENSIVE LINE

Evan Anderson, Florida Atlantic
Khristian Boyd, Northern Iowa Practice player of the week, didn't see him in the game.
Jowon Briggs, Cincinnati
Jamree Kromah, James Madison
Logan Lee, Iowa
Zion Logue, Georgia
Fabien Lovett Sr., Florida State
Jordan Miller, SMU
Myles Murphy, North Carolina Far too talented for the O lines ... this kid is a day 2 player IMO.
Nathan Pickering, Mississippi State
Justin Rogers, Auburn
Leonard Taylor III, Miami (FL) Didn't play ... but coming into the year he's a 1st round hopeful. I didn't think he played up to it.

There is a lot of DT talent this draft to be had in the mid rounds, but there may be a total dropoff by the 6th round. Im not seeing depth.

EDGE

Sundiata Anderson, Grambling State I don't know him but he had some nice pressures and hair. 6-3 239 80 wing ... long. Good burst speed to power, but I am not sold on the quality of these OTs.
Solomon Byrd, USC So ... I asked about him mid year, curious why he wasn't getting attention. He only played the first series, where he got a sack. 6-2.5 255 ... 33 inch arms. I feel like some team will fall in love with his ability and take him in the top 100.
Khalid Duke, Kansas State I love K State players, period. 6-2.5 239. He'll test well. Might be a little stiff. Had a good game across from Kamara.
Javontae Jean-Baptiste, Notre Dame
Trajan Jeffcoat, Arkansas
Mohamed Kamara, Colorado State Early NCAA sack leader. Was unblockable, honestly. Team Captain. 6-1 252 ... a little short but he was a force every snap.
Eyabi Okie-Anoma, Charlotte
Xavier Thomas, Clemson
Zion Tupuola-Fetui, Washington
David Ugwoegbu, Houston He made a couple plays, meh.

Missed the Murphy twins?
Grayson
Gabriel 6-2 250 both short arms at 31 ... but they play hard ... they get to the QB some. Just likely to be late and rotational.

LINEBACKER

Levelle Bailey, Fresno State I like Fresno kids ... and this group of LBs in this draft are high quality and high motor ...
Aaron Casey, Indiana Like him late ... eyeball speed is 4.7 but he's smart.
Steele Chambers, Ohio State 6-0 223, didn't play ... he may jump out of the gym though. I don't know if I'd take him before the 5th.
Edgerrin Cooper, Texas A&M Didn't play ... #20 on DJ's board, so likely on agent's orders. He's 6-2 227 but with 33.5 inch arms ... hence the pass rushing ability.
Kalen DeLoach, Florida State Played safety mostly ... 5-11 200, so not sure why he's here.
Dallas Gant, Toledo He flashes but also seems out of position at times.
Curtis Jacobs, Penn State More of a thumper than a chaser, got overshadowed by PSU's all world LB Abdul Carter.
Jackson Mitchell, UConn This kid might be the hidden gem. Diagnostician ... tons of tackles ..
Darius Muasau, UCLA Old school thumper.
Maema Njongmeta, Wisconsin

With most of this group, we're going to be looking at drill speeds. Less the 40, more the Short shuttles.

CORNERBACK

Chigozie Anusiem, Colorado State
Beanie Bishop Jr., West Virginia
M.J. Devonshire, Pittsburgh I like Pitt corners. I don't think he's Avante Maddox but he'll fight you.
Renardo Green, Florida State I think he is getting overlooked ... I may be wrong but I have him around the 3rd and he's trending toward the 6th.
Myles Harden, South Dakota
Daequan Hardy, Penn State Didn't play, but one of my favorites of the college football season. He's smaller but plays big and gets PBUs.
Jarrian Jones, Florida State
Dwight McGlothern, Arkansas Tall but short arms.
Jarius Monroe, Tulane Along with Q Mitchell, was my other group of 5 CB ... Practice player of the week ... INT in the game. 6-0 204 ... 32 inch arms and solid speed (eyeball says 4.48) ... my guess is around where we pick in the second.
Deantre Prince, Ole Miss
Christian Roland-Wallace, USC
Qwan'tez Stiggers, Toronto Argonauts So this kid is a cool story, and he had a good week and game. 5-11 203. Rookie of the year in the CFL.
Tarheeb Still, Maryland Really like MD DBs. He has short arms (29) but he competes ... 5-11 186.
Ro Torrence, Arizona State Like him well enough, big long CB ... 6-2 205 33 inch arms.
Mikey Victor, Alabama State
Josh Wallace, Michigan Was "the other guy" with Will Johnson taking most of the attention. He held up well for being thrown at a lot.

SAFETY

Daijahn Anthony, Ole Miss
Omar Brown, Nebraska
Jaylon Carlies, Missouri So, this is a target for me because he moves really well for a BIG safety. I liked him during the year ... he has solid hands and had a great pick against UF IIRC. When I say big, he's 6-2.5 and 231 with 34 inch arms. I had no idea ... he looked like Jordan Fuller size and moved like him. I have him as a third rounder right now but my grade is unlikely to be where he's drafted. He'll go lower because people will look at the numbers and forget the tape thinking he's a LB.
Marcellas Dial, South Carolina
Dominique Hampton, Washington
Jaylen Key, Alabama
Kenny Logan Jr., Kansas Like this kid ... had some medical, but if he checks out he's a smart captain and solid player.
Tyler Owens, Texas Tech
Mark Perry, TCU I like him more than most, thought he'd come out last year even. 6-0 211.
Trey Taylor, Air Force
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson, Texas Tech They hyped him up, and honestly I think it's deserved. He takes solid angles and arrives angry. 5-10 190.
Ryan Watts, Texas This kid played outside CB for UT at 6-2 215. I like that experience and I don't know if he's got the smarts fo safety ... experiment.

SPECIALISTS

Matthew Hayball, Vanderbilt (P)
Cam Little, Arkansas (K)
Harrison Mevis, Missouri (K) Rarely mention kickers, but since the Mia Oh kid went back to school, Ill say the mostmemorable kick was his to beat UF.
Marco Ortiz, Nebraska (LS)
Ryan Rehkow, BYU (P)
Joe Shimko, N.C. State (LS)

Senior Bowl write up likely tomorrow.

Questions, comments, additions, all welcome. I don't start highlighting targets until I get a better idea of who is being missed by evaluators (in my opinion, obviously).
