Could Rams-Lions be first in a new rivalry?

January 08, 2024 02:49PM
Both teams are ascending...could this be a classic with legs going forward?
Note:

The Rams and Lions met in the playoffs once.
December 21, 1952
Detroit 31, Los Angeles 21—Briggs Stadium 47,645
Rams fall behind 14-0…but a 14yd pass from Van Brocklin to Tom Fears in the second quarter makes it 14-7…by the end of the third the Lions lead 24-7… Deacon Dan Towler scores on a 5yd run…and Vitamin Smith returns a punt 56-yds for a TD to make it 24-21…but lions close it out with a late Td…

Rams fumbled twice and threw a pick…Lions QB Bobby Layne threw four interceptions… a week later…the Lions beat the Cleveland Browns…

Think about this neither Cleveland or Detroit has been to a Super Bowl...and the time they played in the championship...was that time the Rams played the Lions in the playoffs...Weird how somethings fall into place...
