Rams themselves have alluded to it and they’re not just whistling Dixie.
My reasoning?
It’s actually easier to name the few positions where we are absolutely, positively sure of the starter come opening day than to tediously try to go through a list where fierce competition is expected.
The sure things as starters are these:
On Offense
QB
RT
TE (at least first half of season)
WR’s 1 and 2
Other 6 are up in the air.
On Defense
AD (any position on that DL that they choose on any given play)
ILB
Other 9 positions are up in the air.
On ST
Ethan Evans (Technically not a lock, but would you want to bet against him?)
Other 3 ST specialists are up in the air.
That’s it, y’all. I can’t remember a Rams roster so wide open after the draft, can you?
Only 26 positions open (I’m counting 4 ST specialists) with 8 filled (including the punter). Leaving 18 up in the air.
Yeah, competition is the name of the game.
Practice reports, amateur camp reports, and even preseason games are gonna be much more interesting this year because so many starting jobs will be on the line.
Can’t wait.
