As soon as the Seattle Seahawks shockingly cut Bobby Wagner, just about every Los Angeles Rams fan called on Les Snead to sign the All-Pro linebacker. Given the Rams’ need for help at inside linebacker, Wagner would be a logical fit in Los Angeles, which is actually where he’s from.

The Rams haven’t signed Wagner yet, but they’ve looked into the possibility of doing so. General manager Les Snead told reporters Tuesday that the Rams have talked about signing Wagner and watched film with defensive coaches to determine whether he’d be a fit with them.

Wagner is surprisingly still available, making him one of the best players left on the market. The Rams currently have about $8.8 million in cap space available, which is probably enough to sign Wagner, but they also need to keep room for their draft class and other free agents such as Odell Beckham Jr. and Dont’e Deayon, if they plan to bring them back.

Wagner would immediately make the Rams better on defense, starting alongside Ernest Jones. But there’s also a chance they feel good enough about Jones and Travin Howard that they’ll pass on bringing in a veteran.

Last season, Wagner had a career-high 170 tackles in 16 games played, also registering one sack and an interception.
