My projections for comp picks in 2023

February 25, 2022 06:50PM
Lets assume the rams retain OBJ and Von Miller. The rams remaining top talent who are UFA include CB Williams (PPF projects a 11 million/yr contract), G Corbett (9.25 million/yr contract), DL SJD (8 million/year contract), C Allen (7.25 million/year), RB Michael (4.25 million/year), T Noteboom (4 million/year) and LB Obo (2.25 million/yr contract). Comp picks go to teams that lose more UFAs than they gain with a max 32 awarded. When a UFA player is signed, he crosses off an equivalent player (roughly in terms of average salary per year). No team can be awarded more than 4 player comp picks in a year. I think Williams would likely be a 4th round comp, and Corbett and SJD are 5th round comp picks. Allen may be a 5 or 6. Michael would be on the 6/7 border. Assuming salaries continue to rise than likely a 7. So my guess is that the rams would get a 4, one or two 5s (we may resign one of interior linemen), if it one 5 then they also get a 6, and a 7.

So my pre FA guess is a 4, 5, 6, 7 (I assume we keep Corbett and Noteboom and let Williams, SJD, Allen, and Michael go). If Von Miller leaves then likely a 3, 4, 5, 6.
