Another thread is discussing the thinness at TE. Because of this and to offer really unexpected looks, I can imagine 2 exotic sets:
1. No TE ... 2 RBs.
I would really like to see us put Cam and Sony on the field together. I always figured a WR or slot would have to sit, but I'd like to simultaneously threaten a D with both styles of running. If we don't have a TE, we could split our WRs out wider and threaten the indie and the outside. And both Cam and Sony are good blockers. They can't match the blocking you get from Higbee, but I see lots of possibilities.
2. A backup lineman at TE.
This would be like a jumbo set and would obviously skew towards the run. But, again, I would think we could do something with such a set.
And both sets would come out of nowhere. CIN might spend a little time imagining exotic sets, but they could not possibly spend much time prepping for either.
Well, I'm just an old fart with an imagination. I dunno from nuffink. But I wonder ...
