McVay and Martz best offenses coaches Rams ever had

November 16, 2021 08:08AM
In the last 30 years, lots of Rams teams and lots of coaches, but only Martz and McVay have been to a superbowl with the offense being the catalyst.

Martz twice and McVay once

In fact, only coaches to go to the playoffs.

In fact, only coaches to have a winning record.

Again in 3 decades nobody but Martz and McVay have had a winning season.

I think their approach is refreshing vs the Run, Run, Past, Punt Junior High Fisher offense.

Last year the 4 final four in the playoffs were all passing teams. Passing wins in today's NFL. It really has been like that for a while. Now losing Woods is a killer, but that is the a nature of football so don't go changing what is the important part of a good football team because of an unfortunate injury.

I do know this: Shanahan can beat McVay as many times as he can, but I would take McVay over him any day. In 5 seasons Shanahan had 1 good year and 4 subpar seasons. It has to all line up to win with his approach. If at any time the smallest thing goes wrong and he has to play uphill versus getting on top early like last night, he is in trouble.

Shanahan's

6-10
4-12
13-3
6-10
4-5

McVay's

11-5
13-3
9-7
10-6
