A couple of thoughts after thinking about this…

Firstly, DJ couldn’t beat out Jefferson for 3rd WR, but I think OBJ is the clear #3 once he assimilates the playbook. No disrespect intended for Jefferson but I think that’s a given. Which means OBJ will be matched up against opponents 3rd CB, a clear mismatch. In 4 WR sets, Jefferson will be matched up against 4th CB, another glaring mismatch.

Secondly, OBJ plays bigger than his size because he wins so many contested catches, something that Stafford really loves.

Can you imagine the D nightmare of facing our top 4 WR’s and Higbee on a given snap? Or 4 WR’s plus Hendo who may be running or receiving? If this OL can revert to their former top 5 status then Stafford should be able to eat D’s alive in 2 seconds or less.

McVay’s probably burning the midnight oil figuring how best to utilize all these weapons. No shortage of options, is there?

OR McVay can rotate 4 starter quality WR’s to keep everybody fresh in 11 sets. Emphasis ‘starter quality’. Good strategy for a long 17 game season plus playoffs.

OBJ gives McVay a new toy for trick plays, something else that D’s don’t want to deal with.
