And then the gangs came

October 25, 2021 07:18PM
I lived and grew up in South Central L.A. Went to Dorsey High which at the time was one of the top high schools in the nation as far as producing athletes. My graduation class funneled almost an entire USC freshman football class. Then we lost our African American athletes to the Catholic schools. Then came the drugs. And of course the gangs followed. Before long the inner city schools were left with those who would never even make it on a Catholic football team. We tried but the only money to compete was related to drugs. The attached article points out the long history of two great football rivals in the inner city. When I played at Dorsey there was NO Crenshaw. Had there been I would have attended that H.S.

Anyway, it there are any from the hood on this board, I thought you guys or girls might be interested. It's a good read.
