McVay has been irritated by the offense's slow starts. And rightfully so. Through 7 games the Rams have outscored opponents 30-20 in the 1st quarter. That's 4.3 PPG- actually tied with SF for 12th in the league, so actually not bad in the grander scheme of things. But it's been sort of feast or famine in the 1st quarter- twice scoring 10 points but four times they've scored 3 points or less (zero three times).
But the rest of the game they've outscored teams 177-126. So 25.3 PPG
after the first quarter. 9.7, 7.7 and 7.9 PPG in the 2nd through 4th quarters.
Defensively, their biggest difference from 2020 is 2nd half scoring allowed. They are actually 2.1 PPG
better in the first half this year. But 3.7 PPG worse in the 2nd half (10.9 vs. 7.2).
