Watch: Tutu Atwell trained with 49ers QB Trey Lance before draft

Tutu Atwell and Trey Lance didn’t cross paths in college as Atwell played at Louisville in the ACC and Lance played at North Dakota in the Missouri Valley Conference. But they knew each other leading up to the 2021 NFL draft, even training together beforehand.

What they didn’t know is that they would become division rivals at the next level. The Rams took Atwell in the second round at No. 57 overall, while the 49ers made Lance their new franchise quarterback by trading up to No. 3 overall for him.

A 49ers fan account on Twitter shared a video of Lance throwing to Atwell on a practice field before the draft. It’s unclear when or where this video was taken, but it seems to be at one of EXOS’ many training facilities across the country.
