How good can we expect Matt Stafford to be for the next 2-3 years? Will he be 2 first round picks good? Is it fair, or even reasonable, to expect him to be Manning, Brees, or Brady in their primes? Maybe he can be like Joe Flacco and help the Rams get to a Super Bowl (the Baltimore Ravens were very good with Joe Flacco, Ray Rice, and defense).
Maybe that is what we will get, because Matt Stafford's career numbers are no better than Jared Goff's. I suppose we can hope for improvement, but is that a realistic expectation for a QB going into his 13th NFL season at age 33? Yet, I keep reading that Goff has reached his peak at age 26 after having played 5 years.
I think people are trapped in some kind of an illogical whirlpool. But I also think that's just the way most people think about anything and everything in 2021. Thinking, from its inception, in its fundamental and foundational aspects, is just all screwed up.
