This post is to convey that our team is not perfect. McVay sited his responsibility when staring Wolf vs Goff last week. Sorta asserted that he is in control and must make the tough decisions. When we read of his genius it has nothing to do with his charisma as a leader and HC. His decision last week had notihing to do with that either. This is his team and he has that authority until he doesn't. McVay's swag however has hinged on his offensive brilliance and yet we are seeing it wilt in front of our faces. He outlines the gameplan and he tries to out wit and out match his opponents and all the while his offense is fading into an also run, run of the mill offense. Proving that no genius in how it works or is being executed. Proving that our offense is not nearly as potent as other offenses. San Fran out scored us twice and We split with Seattle and have been out played by several others and out performed statistically in the league.
Others have played without their starting QB and are very potent. Others have played with Running backs out and are very potent. We simply do not score enough. Our QB is taking more hits than the coach on and off the field but how is it that McVay's mentors and peers are doning better the past 2 years? Its more than having better QBs its having a more coherent and potent attach which we do not. Could it be we need continuity in the QB room and @ OC. Could it be that LaFluer was the better OC, he has done it elsewhere.
if our decline is due to Goff not being good enough then shame on McVay for not drafting forward and instead dumpster diving for thier back-up QB.
Genius is a scary moniker because it puts a target on your back and now McVay is in season. From here on out every move he makes will be weighed and measured. It will not matter what I think but how he responds to this recent adversity and assualt on his ego. Can he make changes that will benefit the team or will he waste time trying to prove he is an offensive genius and insist he has the best personnel and game plan known to man except at QB when we know ithat his biggest problem is McVay's unquestioned genius.
