I'd like to see McVay

Bring in an old head as a consultant. Somebody who can challenge him without undermining him and help him think through things.

He seems like a humble person and has a voracious appetite for the nuances of the game. But he's still super young.

It takes a lot of maturity and guts to do something like that because it can be construed as weakness.

There's a term with start ups called the dip. Most companies go through it after the initial investment and enthusiasm starts to wane and before they become established or fail.

I think McVay has arrived at his dip. He can try and push through doing things his own way or he can bring an experienced head and say to him, 'I want you to tell me every reason why what I want to do next will fail'

It's probably not going to happen and no idea who fits the bill (is Vermeil too old?) but his inexperience is showing.

There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.
