Teams that could sign McCoy. Walter Football

The Bills could have traded LeSean McCoy for a mid-round pick a year ago, but opted to keep him for some reason. It was a nonsensical decision, as they just decided to release him. Devin Singletary should be a great replacement, but it's disappointing that Buffalo couldn't at least obtain something for McCoy.

Nevertheless, McCoy is now one of the top options on the opening market. He looked like he had some burst in the preseason, so any team that needs a running back should be interested.

Here are the teams that could sign McCoy:

Houston Texans: I've been in three fantasy drafts thus far. Whenever someone has chosen McCoy, I've joked, "The starting running back for the Houston Texans." This makes all the sense in the world. Duke Johnson cannot carry a full workload - or even a middling workload, for that matter - so a replacement for the injured Lamar Miller is needed. McCoy would be a great short-term solution until the Texans' horrible front office drafts a bust running back in 2020 or 2021.

Miami Dolphins: Kalen Ballage is the worst starting running back in the NFL right now, so like many old people, McCoy could head to Florida and begin his retirement there.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Speaking of Florida teams, the Buccaneers could be interested, given their weak group of runners.

Los Angeles Rams: Depending on how the Rams feel about Todd Gurley and Darrell Henderson, they could opt to sign McCoy. Gurley has arthritic knees, and it's possible that Sean McVay doesn't believe that Henderson would be a viable replacement for Gurley as of this moment. McVay could easily like Henderson, rendering this a non-possibility.

“It’s a hard job. If these guys don’t play well, don’t produce, if too many get hurt, you’re probably not going to have a job. It’s almost like politicians – I wish they would make decisions on one term in office. GMs have to get out of the way of politics, get out of the way of long term, do what they think is right for the team.”
