A big debate amongst football fans this summer has been whether or not the Los Angeles Rams improved their roster heading into 2019. The team strengthened their defense with the veteran additions of Clay Matthews and Eric Weddle. They added stability at the backup quarterback position with Blake Bortles. Despite moving out of the first round in the 2019 NFL draft, they were still able to grab a few players who should contribute immediately.

On the flip side, the Rams lost five major starters from last season: Roger Saffold, Mark Barron, John Sullivan, Lamarcus Joyner, and Ndamukong Suh. Joyner shouldn’t be missed much as Weddle should step into his role seamlessly.

But what about replacing the other four? The Rams will rely heavily on their 2018 craft class to fill these roles. Third-round pick Joseph Noteboom and fourth-round pick Brian Allen are set to step in on the offensive line. Fifth-round pick Micah Kiser will takeover at linebacker for Barron. While it remains up-in-the-air who will fill Suh’s role on the defensive front, fourth-round pick John Franklin-Myers seems poised to take over some of Suh’s snaps.
