A fascinating post about Ram postseason stats by AvengerRam...

Here’s AvengerRam...

Looking back at the 2018-19 Rams playoff run, most people talk about the mysterious "disappearance" of Todd Gurley after the Dallas game.

To me, there was a much more interesting change between the Rams' regular season and playoff performances was the defense.

Some numbers...

The Rams allowed 358.6 yards/game during the regular season, which ranked 19th in the NFL.
They allowed 335.0 yards/game during the playoffs (equivalent to the 10th ranked team during the regular season).

The run defense was particularly more effective, as the Rams allowed 84 yards/game in the playoffs, as compared to 122.3/game in the regular season.

The Rams also improved in points allowed, going from 24.0/game in the regular season to 19.3/game in the playoffs (which would have ranked 4th during the regular season).

Are these statistical anomalies or do these numbers reflect improvement? If so, did the defense "hit its stride" merely because of time playing together/in the system, or was it the addition of Aquib Talib and Mark Barron (returning from injury) and Dante Fowler (trade)?

Most importantly, can/should we expect more of the same, particularly with the personnel changes on the defensive side of the ball (Suh/Barron/Joyner out, Matthews/Weddle in)?
