Rams have mastered compensatory-pick formula since its introduction

A huge portion of roster-building in the NFL comes from the draft each year. The same goes for other leagues, but in the NFL, drafting well is paramount because of salary cap reasons. For a team like the Los Angeles Rams, though, there are other ways to construct a team.

Not a single player from their 2018 draft class started a game last season after the Rams went out and acquired big-name players like Ndamukong Suh, Marcus Peters, Aqib Talib and Brandin Cooks. Those additions had a huge impact on their Super Bowl run, and zero effect on one other aspect of the offseason: compensatory picks.

Since 1994, only four teams have received more compensatory picks than the Rams. The Ravens lead the league with 50 picks, followed by the Cowboys (42), Packers (42), Patriots (39) and Rams (36).
