The after shock: What will shake out?

February 04, 2019 11:18AM
Starting from the top:
Sneed and co will need to evauate the performance of our staff and our personnel.
They should not regret 2018 offseason agressiveness but evaluate the necessity and effectiveness of those moves and do a better job.
Joyner and perhaps Barron were over valued. Quin was undervalued despite needing upgrade help outside Might he have been helped by the addition of Suh and our DBs? Fowler came at a price mid season but a welcome addition.

I would look at our Staff:
OC: We need someone helping our play caller and we need a stablizing impact there because we need balance and versatility. Not every Offensive mind has to be young they just need to be smart and adaptible and will be respected by McVay. Hopefully McVay has a short list but this time maybe expand staff to ensure we are not just reshuffling yearly to find replacements for departures.

DC:Wade can't coach for ever. Perhaps we bring his son on to inspire him to hang on a little longer and find some of his peeps to add to staff for a transition in case his replacemnt is on our staff already.

QB: Played a full year without a legitimate second starting QB in the room and certainly lacking any intagible benefit.
WR: Did not manage to become Kupp proof - way to integral to our offense. We struggled to establish new weapons. Kupps Injury demands we prepare. The inability to get other receivers developed and contributing or to stay healthy makes this another area of concern. Is Reynolds ceilling much higher than what we have seen and have we seen enough?
RB: Kelly and Davis neither developed - who's fault (RB coach?). Gurley's durability - do we need t look at his med history and split time in college? We need to shore up a backup. Do we need to add FB to our Offense?
TE: It ws believed that TE was very critical to this offense both blocking and catching the ball - Why are they not more appart of offense production catching? Is this a coaching development issue or skill deficit or both?
OL: Post SB mortum are in trouble seems our OL is getting old fast and I know vets are valuable (LT/C/G) but their backup is very thin and needs and imediate focus to upgrade Bigger and stronger. Havenstein and Notebloom are future but are Blythe and Austin the best we have? Critical concern here

S: Joyner is not the one - really need an upgrade here to pair with Johnson
CB: Talib and Peters old and young perhaps a 2nd year would help but gotta also think beyond.
LB: As a 3-4 we are hard pressed to be more stout as well as athletic which is not describing Barron - none of our young LBs really were developed.
DL: is SUH tooreally expensive to keep - Suh would be valuable if we had a NT to leave inside. also a 2nd year in the system would help. Brockers and a host of unknown quantities to include OO & Ebu

Winning is a challenge and getting better is our goal but if we do not ask the right questions and find the right answers we could really feel challenged as a team with few picks and some serious finacial price tags pending.
