6 crazy stats from the Rams’ 33-31 win vs. Seattle

It took a complete team effort and a gutsy call by Sean McVay late in the fourth quarter, but the Los Angeles Rams once again came away victorious by knocking off the Seahawks, 33-31. It was their fifth straight win to start the year, matching the Chiefs for the best record in football.

Here are six stats to know from the Rams’ win over Seattle.

Rams are 5th team ever to score 30-plus in each of first five games

For the fifth week in a row, the Rams topped 30 points. It’s become a regularity for Sean McVay’s offense with it being a bit of surprise when the Rams score fewer than 30 points. On the season, they’re averaging 34.6 points per game, which is second in the league.

They’re the fifth team ever to score 30-plus points in each of their first five games, with three of the previous four reaching the Super Bowl.

Cory Littleton has multiple blocked punts in a season for second time

For the second time this season, Littleton got his hands on a punt and blocked it. The Rams couldn’t capitalize on the short field and Jared Goff threw an interception on the ensuing drive, but it was a great play by the young linebacker.

This is the second season he’s had multiple blocks and leads the NFL with four in that department since 2017.

Todd Gurley has twice as many three-TD games as anyone since 2017

Gurley didn’t have his best game running the football, but he had a nose for the end zone. He scored three touchdowns to bring his season total to nine, which leads the NFL. His 58 total points also rank first in the league by nine points over Ka’imi Fairbairn and is 17 more points than any other position player.

Furthermore, it’s his fourth game with at least three touchdowns since the start of last season, which is twice as many as the next-closest player, Alvin Kamara. They’re the only players with multiple three-touchdown games since 2017.

Rodger Saffold started his 100th career game, 44th at LG

This may not be a crazy stat on the surface, but Saffold made his 100th career start on Sunday. The wild part is that he hasn’t started more than 45 games at any single position. His versatility has been on full display with the Rams, making 44 starts at left guard, 38 at left tackle, 13 at right guard and five at right tackle.

Aaron Donald now ranks 7th on Rams’ all-time sacks list

Donald is only 27 years old and has played just 67 career games, but he’s already seventh all-time in sacks in franchise history. With his sack of Russell Wilson on Sunday, he nabbed the 42nd quarterback takedown of his career. That put him ahead of Grant Winstrom, who had 41.5 in 91 games with the Rams.

Donald needs just three more to tie Gary Jeter for sixth all-time in franchise history. Chris Long (54.5) and Robert Quinn (62.5) rank fifth and fourth, respectively.

First Rams team to win five straight road games since 2001

By winning on the road again Sunday, the Rams have now rattled off five straight wins away from home dating back to last season. They’re the sixth team in franchise history to accomplish that feat, and it’s been a while since any other Rams team has done it. The last time it happened was in 2001.
