Reich loses the game for Indy with a silly 4th down call in OT

October 01, 2018 02:30AM
Frank Reich defends his decision; says he'd do it again 10 out of 10 times . So does Luck. I guess these two are made for each other.

24 seconds left in OT. Game tied. It's 4th and 4 on your own 45 yard line. And you go for it? Indy fails. The other team makes one play; gets into FG range and nails it. Indy loses.

Indy fans were stunned when he went for it. Resigned after it failed. Depressed after Houston won it on a FG in OT after a hard fought game.

That was about as a dumb a rookie HC move as I can recall. More testosterone than brains.

Message to Reich: Indy is not Philly. And I don't think Pederson would have gone for it in those same circumstances.

And yes, a tie is better than a loss especially if you have playoff hopes.

I hope should the Rams ever play Indy that Reich maintains that same "damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead" attitude. That's a good recipe for losing more than you win in the NFL.

Yeah. Reich (and a local writer) say he's establishing a culture

Very little upside to the call

Had the results been different it would be a completely different story
