McVay no longer departmentizing his WRs

September 28, 2018 05:10AM
I believe a big improvement between this year and last year is even more diversity on how he handles the WRs. They are all now kind of used for all different kinds of patterns and the tendencies are no longer there for the defense to have good reads.

Last year each receiver was so role based and only ran certain routes. This year it is wide open with all kinds of possibilities.

Cooks, Kupp, and Woods are all doing some of the same things and used interchangeably. Going deep, taking the sweep handoffs, short passes, quick slants, middle of field, sidelines, etc.

Nobody really has any idea on the snap of the football on what is going to happen which is a far cry when I could predict 60+ percent of the plays based on formation and down and distance with Fisher.

The creation of space, space management is the best in the league since Mike Martz. It is simply spectacular and teams have no idea how to defend the Rams because you also have Gurley who can do it all and is used in so many ways as well.

Simply spectacular show so far and getting a little better each week.
