If Owners don't like it - they can fix pre-season

Forget the going to 2 games and adding 2 regular season games. Not going to happen. Players would want a lot more money and owners won't pay it. I's a non-starter. Plus, 18 games is too many. How many guys would be out with injury by the time you got to post season. I think it would bring down the quality of play later in the year. Also, imagine a team has a spot locked up by week 15 or 16 - then rests starters for 2 or 3 weeks. Anyone want to watch that? As it is, week 16 only has a handful of meaningful games.

4 pre-season games are fine - if you use them like most teams: get rookies live reps and evaluate depth on your team and also get tape on other teams' depth for possible signings after cutdowns.

How about this novel approach from the Owners. Slash pre-season ticket prices. Charge 1/2 or less than current regular season prices. Give away lots of seats to local charities for fundraising purposes or give big blocks of tickets to at risk kids in the local community.

Have prize giveaways at different parts of the game. Imagine the kicker lining up for a field goal and announcing that everyone in section 224 gets a $50 gift certificate to (x, y, or z) if he makes it.

Maybe you could put some butts in the seats and the tv optics wouldn't be so poor.

As for watchability. Sorry, these are scrimmages. They are about as watchable as the draft or combine footage. People still watch that. The NFL can't say they want year round programming and then not be ok when some of that is filler. Plus it makes the regular season more special. Isn't that the idea?
