Here's the only offensive player Todd Gurley ranks above himself

Aside from winning NFL MVP, there isn’t a higher honor on offense than Offensive Player of the Year. That’s the award Todd Gurley took home last season, leading the league in yards from scrimmage, total touchdowns and ranking second in rushing yards.

He deserved all of the praise he received throughout his All-Pro season, but he still doesn’t think he’s the best offensive player in the league. That honor goes to a certain wide receiver in Pittsburgh.

“We’re not sneaking up on nobody. They know what we have,” Gurley told Willie McGinest. “They know we have the best defensive player in the league. The best offens–– second-best offensive player after Antonio Brown. But I’m excited to come back and work again next year.”

Gurley has always been a humble player, even after being named the best offensive player of 2017. Hearing him put Brown above himself is nothing surprising, especially if you’ve listened to Gurley consistently deflect praise from himself and onto others.

He, like everyone else, knows just how good Brown is, too. Despite having to watch from afar, Gurley worked out with Brown and Miami Hurricanes wide receivers this offseason.

Perhaps another Offensive Player of the Year award can push Gurley above Brown on his own personal rankings next season.
