Of all the moves the Los Angeles Rams made this offseason, Aqib Talib seems to be the guy most overlooked by fans and analysts. Although he’s a former first-team All-Pro and a true ball hawk in the secondary, many seem to be more excited about young building blocks like Brandin Cooks and Marcus Peters.

That’s not to say Talib won’t have a huge impact in 2018 – rest assured, he will – but how long he’ll be with the Rams is unclear given his age. There’s no denying the fact that he’s one of the best cornerbacks in the game today, and by Gil Brandt’s standards, one of the best to ever step foot on an NFL field.

He ranked the 24 best cornerbacks in league history recently and somewhat surprisingly, Talib made the cut. He came in at No. 23, one spot ahead of Albert Lewis and one behind Lester Hayes. He’s one of three current players on the list, along with Patrick Peterson and Richard Sherman.

Talib has a strong resume – one Super Bowl, four Pro Bowl trips, a first-team All-Pro selection, 34 career interceptions – but not many people would put him among the 24 best at his position in NFL history.

His ability to score on defense is part of what sets him apart, returning 10 of his 34 career interceptions for touchdowns. Needless to say, he’s put together a nice career in the NFL and will have a chance to cap it off on a high note in Los Angeles.
