Getting close to time when FA hysteria starts working the other way

March 21, 2018 06:51AM
At the start of free agency, teams tend to get a bit hysterical and give huge, unwarranted contracts to imperfect players.

Nate Solder $15.5 mil per year
Sammy Watkins $16 mil per year based on potential not production (I like Sammy and am rooting for him to live up to that contract btw.)

After this first wave passes, however, the hysteria starts to move the other way as players who expected to be snatched up fast for big $$ find themselves with no team at all. And that is where you can find some bargains. (Also post-draft cuts, but that is much further away.)

I do think our FO does a good job with this part of FA and hope they can find a few high potential players to fill some holes.
