Sammy Watkins is already being recruited to the Bengals by Joe Mixon

The Los Angeles Rams opted to place the non-exclusive franchise tag on Lamarcus Joyner Tuesday, which will presumably make Sammy Watkins a free agent. That’ll be the case if he doesn’t sign an extension with the Rams by March 14, at which point he’ll hit the open market.
Teams can’t talk to Watkins about a contract until the legal tampering period begins on March 12, but there’s no rule against players on Twitter recruiting Watkins.
That’s what Joe Mixon of the Bengals did just a few hours after the Rams tagged Joyner.
The prospect of Watkins pairing with A.J. Green, while also having John Ross’ speed on the field, is absolutely terrifying for defensive backs. Granted, Andy Dalton is still Cincinnati’s quarterback, but even he could have success with that receiver group.
